About

There is something about reading someone’s personal blog that makes you feel connected with them, even if you don’t know them at all. It’s easy to type out your thoughts sometimes rather than telling someone verbally what’s going on in your mind. So I decided I would just throw it out there and see what comes back. God reaches into our hearts and minds even to the places where we would probably not want Him to go. But there’s a celebration when He’s done working in us in areas of our lives. And that’s why I’m here. He’s led me to South Africa.

You could have read that above and wondered what I mean or maybe you’re confused thinking, “This guy is all over the place” and I’d probably agree with you. But this past year as some of you may know I spent a year on an internship with Thrive Africa living with nine other young people who are now great friends. God reformatted my life. When I say reformatted I think of my computer when I start to notice it getting slow and there are bugs in it and it needs to be wiped and Windows (or OSX in my case) needs to be reinstalled. Which brings me to a place of worry. You worry about the things you might lose or wondering if you forgot to backup anything. But God doesn’t worry about that stuff when He does long lasting life changes in us. He knows there are things we’re going to have to leave behind and become new again in Him. Boy did He do that this year.

And He turned it into something beautiful.

In 2008, while I was on the year-long internship at Thrive Africa, I was asked to come back on staff as their IT/graphic/web guy and be an assistant to their current computer guy, Dave. I prayed about it and consulted some other people in my life about the decision and the light was green. It was actually the day I was baptized that I told Alece I wanted to come back on staff.

God took the two things I love: the people of South Africa and working on my computer; and put them together to advance the Kingdom of God in South Africa. Mainly I’ll be doing graphic work that will be used in curriculums for our AIDs Preventio program, as well as other graphic work for other areas of our ministry. Also I’ll be doing some web developement stuff for our website (the code side of it) and then just other IT stuff that needs to get done on the ministry base.

So like I said at the beginning of this jumbled group of words, you some how feel connected when reading the thoughts someone puts out there and provoke you to think what the workds mean to you. And again I may not even know you. Why not make it personal and make it a two-way relationship. Here’s some ways you can do that.
