Apples and Pictionary

Sometimes we get bored of the same thing every night of either not doing anything at all, or watching TV, eating(?), reading, sitting at a computer (this would be me), sleeping, etc. But around here we don’t all get together too often for some good ole, non-technological fun.

So tonight, we did. The parents of one of our staff members, who are visiting (and their dad also has the same spelling I have for my name (which doesn’t seem to be common)), and 7 other staff gathered around the living room table, snacking on funnel cakes, to enjoy a night of laughing our heads off. We played Pictionary and Apples to Apples.

During Pictionary, anytime it was Matt’s turn, he somehow always was able to draw a house to describe his word (even though the word itself had nothing todo with a house). In Apple to Apples, which is a must have game, I some how ended up with the verbs: delightful, saintly, naive, colorful… and two others I can’t seem to think of. These words are [for fun] supposed to describe yourself. Not sure if that’s completely true in this case.

What are some of your favorite board games to play?

  1. I don’t know if you remember the Walkers, but at LBOM I would go to their house every Fri. for game and movie night. Apples to Apples was our fav. game (well, Josiah’s) so we would play that a lot! Love it. My family is a huge game family so we always play games…..taboo and scene it are some of our favorites!

  2. Apples to Apples is def. amazing, and so is scrabble (but I’m kind of scrabbled out from last year). I really like Skip-bo and Phase 10 these days.

  3. Mo – Yeah I think I remember who the Walkers are… or maybe I just heard they’re names a bit while I was there. I’d totally love it if we did a game night here once a week or at least bi-weekly.

Crys – Scrabbled out?! Neva! I don’t think I could ever be Scrabbled out. What’s Skup-bo?

I haven’t heard of half those games! We’ll have to start playing board games like weekly or something. That rhyming one that we did with two words was fun too!
