Harsh Weather

harsh-weather1

(Took this a photo last night)

So it’s another day of the cold weather coming in and I don’t think it’s going to be getting warmer any time soon. The windows of my chalet have thin curtains and there are cracks in the floors letting the cold air through. It won’t be long before we start getting the ridiculous 70mph winds hitting the sides of my little home making it feel like we’re in a tornado about to get picked off the grown like a weed.

But then I think about the foundation of this little home wondering if it’s strong enough. It’s rocky hard ground. There are suppot beams that go deep into the ground to keep the structure from moving. The cold winds hit the log outer walls but I keep warm (most of the time). Surrounding the house, in my backyard, there are mountains keeping out the worst of the storms. I am safe.

It all comes back to the foundation, where it all starts. I could have a house out in the farm area where ground is soft and it’s out in the open for anything to knock it down; and with ease being taken out of the ground. But no, I am safe. I could be living in a nice little hut on a beach somewhere but the waters would thin the sand and the support would be carried away by the waves. But no, I am safe.

My foundation is in Christ and Christ alone. To be safe in His arms I need to dig down deep. I need to pull up all the weeds and roots that are in the way so that I can dig deeper and deeper. The further down I go the stronger the foundation is. The more I seek Him the more He clears out the debrie so that there is a clear spot for me to lay. Like the warmth of my bed, I am warm in His arms. Because of Him I am immovable, firm, and ready for whatever wicked weather may come. I’ll be able to take on the speeding cold winds, the heavey rains, and the golf ball size hail. There will be scars but they will heal. There will be times when I need to dig out of the snow clear the debrie away from the door, but God will always be able to walk in.

What do you need to do to build your foundation today? Is there anything that needs to be rebuilt in your life from the ground up? How are you going to start? How can you better prepare for the harsh weather?

  3. [...] In every window frame, door frame, even the top of the curtains in my room. EVERYWHERE, there are ladybugs. I’m even at the point of ‘googling’ the phrase ‘how to get rid of ladybug infestation‘. So I have a couple options: get DOOM bug killer spray and spray nearly my whole house or spend a little more time and vacuum. I think I might end up doing the latter just because I don’t want to get sick from the spray, especially since we’ve been having some heavy winds. [...]
