Who am I kidding?
1Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall! 2Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: ”Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.” 3Assyria cannot save us; We will not mount war-horses. We will never again say ‘Our gods’ to what our own hands have made, for in you the fatherless find compassion. [ Hosea 14:1-3 NIV ]
What are the words that have been coming from our lips?
Are there any gods in your life right now? What do you need to do change that?
Recently, I posted the definition of ‘Merry Christmas’, and since then it hasn’t been true for me. My focus hasn’t been on Christ because I’ve allowed for other ‘gods’ to take over my mind. It’s interesting how clear He makes himself known even when you aren’t keeping yourself disciplined to stay connected with Him. When He wants our attention He’ll do what is needed. Lately I’ve been sleeping a lot, partly because I’ve been staying up late. But mainly I haven’t had the energy I’ve needed because I haven’t been seeking Him for it. He’s given us all we need. Right in front of us. We think we can take breaks from it and that He’ll be ok with that. Who are we kidding? Who am I kidding that I think I can lay back and think I don’t need Him at the moment and push Him off to the side?
Funny. I’m sitting here typing this out and it’s 3:30 AM New Years day.
What is important to us? Our job? Our family? Our finances? Our home?
Where do I spend the most time right now? Unfortunately [for me] it’s not where it should be.

i so appreciate your honesty.

[...] When we feel like we’re at our all-time low, whether of the day, week, month, or year, we feel distant from God and we may cry out to Him finally getting it (again!) that we need Him and we can’t do it on our own. That was last night for me. [...]
